Right-Wing ExtremismNeo-Nazis march unhindered through Paris

On May 6, 2023, hundreds of militant neo-Nazis marched through Paris.

The occasion for the march was the death of neo-fascist Sébastien Deyzieu, who was killed at a far-right demonstration in Paris in 1994.

The demonstration was organized by the alliance "Comité du 9 Mai" (C9M), which includes the militant group "Groupe union défense" (GUD). The GUD was reactivated in 2022 and has been growing alarmingly ever since. The march began at the Port-Royal train station and moved through the 6th arrondissement.

The demonstration was larger than in previous years, with several hundred participants. The atmosphere was consistently hostile to the press. Journalists were threatened and harassed.

Some participants were armed, wearing weighted-knuckle glove and batons. Despite the militant appearance of the participants, the demonstration was accompanied by only a few police officers.

On Saturday evening, after the demonstration, a right-wing rock concert took place.
