DossierTerrorist propaganda for the West: The anti-Israeli organization “Masar Badil”

How the organisation ‘Masar Badil’ advocates for the armed struggle against Israel in Europe.

A year ago, Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing more than 1,200 people. Civilians were brutally murdered, abducted and raped. And today we see that this violence is being celebrated as “resistance” at demonstrations in Europe — and that includes young leftists. How could it come to this?

Our research reveals for the first time that Masar Badil (MB) has secretly built up a network in Western Europe. The organization promotes armed struggle through building broad alliances among the Palestinian diaspora, allied actors and Palestinian factions. MB serves as a significant bridge between militant Palestinian organizations and Western supporters. Several leading MB members and activists live in Germany and organize seminars, demonstrations and conferences to build broad alliances against the Jewish state.

Key Dates:

  • November 2020: First public activities and online seminars
  • October/November 2021: Founding conferences in Madrid, Beirut, and São Paulo
  • October 7, 2023: Immediate public support for Hamas attack on Israel
  • October 2024: Anniversary conference in Madrid celebrating “glorious October 7”

Core Ideology:

  • Complete rejection of Israel's right to exist
  • Opposition to any peace negotiations or two-state solution
  • Support for armed resistance as only legitimate path
  • Opposition to Palestinian Authority as “corrupt and Zionist-controlled”
  • Unity of all resistance forces, including in Lebanon and Yemen (Hamas, PIJ, PFLP, Hezbollah, Houthis)

The organization has become particularly notable for connecting Western supporters with senior figures from militant organizations through online seminars and conferences. These events provide unique access to leadership from Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and Yemeni Houthi rebels.

MB's outreach to leftist movements and campus protests is significant. Senior Hamas official Husam Badran specifically addressed Western leftist movements in a November 2023 seminar, emphasizing that Western leftist movements are “crucial” for the resistance, their protests help “correct the image” of Palestinian resistance, and demonstrations in the West are monitored and reported to resistance leadership.

Following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, MB significantly intensified its activities, immediately publishing statements supporting the “heroic Palestinian resistance” and organizing online seminars and public events.
